As part of our Bridge & Structures Practice, you will be responsible for building client and partner relationships, pursuing and winning bridge- and / or structure-centric projects, and managing and delivering those projects. You will have the opportunity to pursue projects throughout California but with a focus on Northern California. You will have the opportunity to participate in the hiring process as you work to staff your projects. In short, we’re looking for a leader, a learner, and a teammate.
Anticipated responsibilities include the following :
Capital projects are often large and multi-disciplinary, involving all civil technical disciplines, often from multiple public and private organizations, as well as contract management and oversight professionals from multiple agencies. For the consultant to provide the most effective service and phased deliverables, exceedingly talented communicators and collaborators are required. It is our experience and firm belief that the most valuable skill for the long-term success of a civil engineering consultant is the ability to effectively communicate complex ideas, both written and spoken. You will be required to communicate in all forms, regularly, with the understanding that your communication is a reflection of our local competency, our larger business, and our dedication to professionalism.
- Ability to develop project proposals (including scope, schedule, and budget), build project teams, lead project interviews, negotiate terms and conditions, and develop and maintain client and partner relationships.
- Ability to train engineers in the development of construction / contract documents (PS&E), technical studies and reports, and supporting calculations and documentation.
- Competency in the use of bridge specific finite element analysis, section analysis, design, post-processing, and related software.
- Familiarity with bridge design safety code requirements, including AASHTO LRFD.
- Familiarity with Seismic Design concepts.
- Ability to perform construction site visits and offer construction support engineering services, to include responding to contractor RFI’s and reviewing shop submittals.
- Ability to lead bridge preventative maintenance-based projects which may include inspections.
- Ability to coordinate with a host of other civil engineering discipline leads, engineers, surveyors, environmental planners, consultant partners, client agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to manage and track your time and key performance indicators amidst a multitude of deadlines and demands.
