(MNS) is a fast-growing profitable multi-service infrastructure consulting firm offering planning, construction management, civil engineering, and surveying services throughout California. With nine offices throughout California, the Company has provided services to the transportation, water resources, government services, and federal markets for over 60 years. We are well positioned in the marketplace, and on a trajectory to continue our geographic services expansion.

Job Duties :

Assisting Surveyors : Work under the supervision of an experienced surveyor to conduct land surveys and related fieldwork.
Operating Equipment : Learn to operate and use surveying instruments such as GPS systems, total stations, levels, and data collectors.
Data Collection : Help with gathering and recording measurements and other relevant data to determine property boundaries, topographic data, and layout for construction projects.
Calculations and Measurements : Learn and apply mathematical calculations related to land measurements, distances, angles, and elevations.
Job Site Preparation : Assist with setting up and taking down equipment, preparing the site for surveying work, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.
Calculations and Mapping : Support in performing basic surveying calculations and creating or updating maps, charts, and reports based on the collected data.
Fieldwork : Work outdoors on a variety of job sites, (horizontal / vertical) which may include construction sites rough terrains, highways, urban areas, or remote locations.
Technical Training and Education : Engage in training, coursework, and on-the-job learning to develop skills and prepare for advancement in the surveying profession.

Requirements

Qualifications :

Education : High school diploma or equivalent; courses in math, drafting, or related fields are beneficial. Valid Driver's License.

Mathematics Skills : Competence in geometry, trigonometry, and algebra is helpful.

Willingness to Learn : Enthusiasm for learning new skills and mastering surveying methods and technologies.

Teamwork and Communication : Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with crew members and other site workers.

Physical : Ability to work in various weather conditions and terrains, often standing for long periods and carrying heavy equipment. Physical requirements include adequate vision and hearing; the ability to bend and stoop; climb vertical ladders up to five feet (or more) in height; lift loads up to fifty pounds; pull / push levers with resistance up to five pounds; and the ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.

Mandatory Apprentice Training Program :

The Local 12 union apprenticeship program is mandatory :

On-the-job training under the supervision of skilled journeypersons.

Classroom instruction to learn theory, laws, and practical applications of surveying.

A structured progression system that allows apprentices to increase their skills, responsibilities, and pay rates as they advance through the program.

Pass an entrance examination. The entrance examination is designed to test basic verbal, math, and mechanical abilities that are essential for succeeding in the Apprenticeship Program.

Pass a Substance Abuse Test. Prior to acceptance into the program, applicants must pass a Substance Abuse Test. This test will be provided by the Operating Engineers Training Trust.
