Position Description
The Stewardship Manager is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day stewardship programs and commitments to the Moab Area Community Land Trust (MACLT)’s residents, homes, and other relevant assets. This position oversees compliance with MACLT’s regulations, engages with residents, maintains records and documentation, supports community development initiatives, and advocates for broader housing access in Moab.
The Stewardship Manager ensures the long-term sustainability and success of MACLT properties, housing initiatives, and residents while also engaging with the wider community to promote housing equity and affordability. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, relationship management, community engagement, and policy advocacy skills.
The Stewardship Manager reports to the Executive Director and staffs the Resident Committee. They are responsible for implementing MACLT’s Stewardship Manual and integrating community advocacy efforts into MACLT’s to address housing challenges in Moab.
Key Responsibilities
Resident Engagement (25%)
- Provide staff support to the Arroyo Crossing Resident Board, including coordinating meetings, facilitating activities, and ensuring effective communication.
- Train and onboard new residents with clear guidance on MACLT guidelines, roles, responsibilities, and expectations.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for inquiries related to ownership, compliance, housing modifications, and related resident concerns.
- Offer personalized support to residents through workshops, social events, and one-on-one plans addressing ownership, financial management, landscaping, and home maintenance.
- Design and implement stewardship programs focused on leadership development, community building, and skill enhancement for residents.
Property Management (15%)
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to oversee stewardship of all MACLT assets, ensuring proper maintenance of landscaping, drainage systems, community gardens, trails, roads, and other common amenities.
- Perform substantial completion inspections for new properties and monitor ongoing physical conditions to ensure safety, livability, compliance, and resident upkeep.
- Facilitate and monitor resident-initiated home improvement projects, ensuring adherence to design criteria and variance policies.
- In collaboration with the Development Manager, enforce compliance with MACLT and other relevant regulations for developers and residents during and after housing construction projects.
Resource Development (20%)
- Identify, research, and apply for grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources to support MACLT programs and initiatives.
- Write and submit compelling grant proposals, including detailed narratives, budgets, and alignment with MACLT’s mission and objectives.
- Create educational resources for residents, such as home maintenance guides, financial literacy materials, and compliance manuals.
- Develop informational materials for the broader community, including newsletters, social media content, workshop materials, and other outreach resources.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to align resource development efforts with organizational goals and community priorities.
- Explore creative funding mechanisms and partnership opportunities to enhance existing programs and develop new initiatives.
- Cultivate relationships with donors, sponsors, and community stakeholders to build sustainable, long-term funding streams for MACLT.
Community Housing Advocacy (30%)
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to advocate for housing policies and initiatives that align with MACLT’s mission, emphasizing equity and affordability.
- Conduct outreach to community members and partners to increase awareness of affordable housing resources, challenges, and opportunities.
- Facilitate workshops and informational sessions for the Moab community on tenant rights, housing programs, financial literacy, and other relevant topics in collaboration with local housing groups.
- Build and sustain partnerships with government agencies, nonprofits, and community groups to expand housing access and support advocacy efforts.
- Represent MACLT at public forums, events, and outreach activities as assigned by the Executive Director to address community housing needs.
- Serve as a liaison between MACLT and coalitions, task forces, and advocacy groups to advance affordable housing solutions.
Recordkeeping and Compliance (10%)
- Maintain accurate, organized records and documentation for properties, residents, stewardship programs, and grant reporting.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to update and administer the MACLT Stewardship Manual, ensuring it remains comprehensive and effective.
- Oversee resident qualification, home purchase processes, and compliance with MACLT’s deed restrictions and regulatory requirements.
- Manage grant application tracking, reporting deadlines, and funder communications to ensure accountability and transparency.
Skills and Experience:
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (2 years) in affordable housing, social work, public administration, urban planning, or a related field.
- Proven experience in housing advocacy, social services, community organizing, or property management.
- Familiarity with local housing policies, programs, and resources.
- Demonstrated success in grant writing, fundraising, or securing external funding.
- Experience building relationships with diverse communities and facilitating resident engagement.
Skills
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in diverse community settings.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $41,600.00 - $54,080.00 per year
