Your Role at MOBE
This is an exciting time at MOBE and we are growing fast. At MOBE, we have a lot of data : eligibility, medical and pharmacy claims, marketing campaign impressions, transcripts from participant interactions, etc.
We're seeking a Data Engineer with strong knowledge of medical and pharmacy claims data to help build scalable, high-performance data pipelines that drive our analytics and operations. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and software engineers to process structured and unstructured data, ensuring high-quality data solutions. Responsibilities include executing and / or leading user story development, data design and architecture, data pipeline development, testing and deployment in the Analytic Data Framework. This role will partner with internal and external business and technology teams to drive project deliverables and ensure high quality delivery of data architecture and integration.

Responsibilities
The Data Engineer ensures the following capabilities and functions :
Design & Build Data Pipelines - Develop scalable, production-grade ETL / ELT data pipelines for structured and unstructured healthcare data.Healthcare Data Expertise - Work with healthcare data including eligibility, medical, and pharmacy claims data , ensuring data integrity, standardization, and compliance with healthcare industry requirements.Data Modeling & Optimization - Ensure efficient data storage and retrieval with strong SQL skills and data modeling best practices.Version Control & CI / CD - Utilize Git (branching strategies, pull requests, code review) and CI / CD tools for seamless deployment.Cloud & Orchestration - Build and manage data workflows using dbt Cloud within our HITRUST AWS environment.Scripting & Automation - Leverage Python and shell scripting to automate workflows.Data Validation & Quality - Implement automated testing frameworks to maintain high data integrity.Documentation & Collaboration - Maintain thorough documentation and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Flexible Role - Demonstrate ability and willingness to play multiple roles for different projects (e.g. planning / architecture, project development, hands-on technical resource / support for others, analysis and resolution of data issues).All other duties as assigned to help fulfill our Mission and abide by MOBE's Guiding Principles.Position Requirements
Qualifications
Required :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Engineering, or related field.3 years of experience in data engineering or related roles.Strong knowledge of healthcare medical and pharmacy claims data (formats, processing, and analytics).Proficiency in SQL with experience in data modeling and query optimization.Advanced Git skills (branching, pull requests, code review).Strong experience with Python and Jupyter Notebooks.Experience with AWS and cloud-based data solutions.Knowledge of Apache Airflow for workflow orchestration.Experience with Bash / shell scripting and command-line tools.Knowledge of automated testing and data validation frameworks.Excellent documentation and technical communication skills.Possess strong problem-solving and analytic thinking skills with experience in data analysis and user story development.Demonstrate oral / written communication and presentation skills to effectively communicate moderately complex technical information to business users and managementAbility and eagerness to learn new tools and applicationsSelf-starter able to work independently on defined tasks and priorities, seek out guidance / assistance when issues arise, or objectives require clarificationPreferred
Experience with modern data transformation tools , particularly dbt Cloud .Proficiency in CI / CD platforms (GitLab CI / CD, GitHub Actions).Experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).Experience with cloud data platforms (Redshift, SQL Server, Azure, WhereScape).Experience using data warehouse methodologies, specifically Data Vault 2.0 / dimensional modeling.Knowledge of data quality tools and monitoring practices.Experience working within Agile development environmentsGuiding Principles : We want employees who are kind, talented and committed, who live by our guiding principles and choose to work at MOBE because of these principles.
