Job Title: Mammography Technologist
Department: Mammography
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (5 Days Per Week, 37.5 Hours Per Week)
Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Mammography Technologist to join our team. The ideal candidate will perform screening and diagnostic mammographic procedures with the highest level of accuracy and patient care. This position requires proficiency in using PACS, EMR, and breast reporting systems while adhering to MQSA guidelines and department protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform mammographic procedures for inpatients and outpatients following department protocols.
- Review prescriptions, history questionnaires, and patient records to ensure completeness before examinations.
- Perform accurate imaging with proper positioning and technical factors, maintaining diagnostic quality.
- Adhere to universal precautions, aseptic techniques, and National Patient Safety Goals by obtaining two patient identifiers for every procedure.
- Process and verify images using PACS and ensure cases are completed in a timely manner.
- Monitor and resolve exceptions lists daily and maintain updated worklists.
- Utilize breast reporting systems (PenRad), EMR, and PACS effectively, including scanning and managing external imaging.
- Analyze images for proper positioning, markers, and labels; repeat imaging if necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and ensure adequate stocking of assigned work areas.
- Communicate effectively with patients, co-workers, physicians, and supervisors.
- Perform bone density scans (DEXA) and assist with interventional procedures such as needle localizations and, if trained, stereotactic biopsies.
- Ensure all procedures meet ALARA principles for radiation protection.
- Perform QA checks per MQSA guidelines and maintain compliance with ECE and examination requirements.
- Serve as a mentor/preceptor for new employees and participate in orientation and training as needed.
Skills and Qualifications:
Required:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience performing screening and diagnostic mammography.
- Proficient with PACS, EMR systems, and breast reporting software.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills, including the ability to address physical, psychological, and cultural needs.
- Strong organizational skills to manage workflow and maintain cleanliness and readiness of the workspace.
Preferred:
- Experience performing DEXA and biopsy procedures is a plus.
Certifications and Licensure:
- ARRT (R) and (M) certification required.
- Valid New Jersey Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License (Mammography certification included).
- Current BLS certification.
- Must meet all ECE requirements to maintain mammography certification, including:
- Completion of required continuing education credits.
- Documented performance of at least 200 mammograms in the past 36 months as per MQSA guidelines.
Schedule:
- Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Monday to Friday).
- Hours Per Week: 37.5 (7.5 hours per day).

Pay: $55.00 - $59.00 per hour
