Job Overview
The Cardiology Nurse Practitioner provides advanced, specialized care to patients with cardiovascular conditions. This role involves performing comprehensive assessments, diagnosing, and managing acute and chronic cardiovascular diseases under the supervision of cardiologists. They will also collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Duties
- Conduct thorough physical examinations and health histories.
· Maintains HIPAA, patient, employee, and office confidentiality at all times
· Identify areas for improvement and implement quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and operational efficiency
· All other duties as assigned
- Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests, including ECGs, echocardiograms, and stress tests.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and current evidence-based guidelines.
- Prescribe medications and manage pharmacologic therapies for cardiovascular conditions.
- Educate patients and their families about cardiovascular health, lifestyle modifications, and disease management.
- Coordinate care with cardiologists, primary care providers, and other specialists.
- Manage follow-up appointments and ongoing patient care.
- Ensure continuity of care through effective communication and documentation.
- Provide education on disease prevention, health promotion, and self-management strategies.
- Offer guidance on lifestyle changes, including diet, exercise, and smoking cessation.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
- Document patient interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Provide assistance in clinic and assist in reviewing provider messages in order to facilitate timely care and response to patients
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior staff and students.
Position Requirements:
· Full-time position, with potential for on-call duties or irregular hours depending on patient needs and clinic hours.
· Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Cardiovascular Nursing or Advanced Practice.
· Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP) with specialized training or certification in cardiology.
· Current RN and NP licenses in Alabama.
· Relevant experience in cardiology or cardiovascular care preferred.
· Proficiency in cardiovascular assessment and diagnostic procedures; strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
