Essential Duties:
Objective: The Equipment Technician is responsible for assuring vehicle readiness, building maintenance, and inventory control.
Essential Duties:
- Know and support the Mission Statement, Policy/Procedures and standards of MMR.
- Wash the exterior of ambulances and other vehicles as needed prior to those units going into service.
- Remove and clean cots prior to the ambulance going into service.
- Disinfect all interior surfaces as indicated on check sheet.
- Responsible for restocking ambulances with required supplies and equipment.
- Document on an incident report and notifies the Supervisor immediately of any unsafe situation found in the ambulance (ie: mechanical problem, bio-hazard, aberrant sharp, etc.).
- Assure that the cab area in the ambulance and all windows are clean.
- Maintain and ensure the cleaning and restocking areas are neat and free of hazards at all times.
- Assist with inventory control of all supplies and equipment.
- Responsible for routine janitorial duties.
- Empty trash and garbage containers.
- Assist with grounds upkeep, including lawn care and snow removal.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skill and Competency Requirements:

- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to work as a member of a team
- Possess and maintain a valid Michigan driver license with an acceptable driving record as defined by MMR’s insurance carrier
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, in a professional manner
- Basic computer skills including the ability to utilize a computer PC with Windows operating system
- Ability to operate office equipment, including but not limited to, copier, fax machine, scanner, monitor, telephone, printer, typewriter and calculator
- Must complete initial and annual Bloodborne Pathogens Training
- Must be at least 18 years old
Physical Factors: Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds alone. Ability to bend, lift, stoop, climb and reach. Has visual acuity of at least 20/40 (Snellen) in each eye, with corrective lenses and a field of vision in the horizontal meridian not less than a total 140 degrees; ability to distinguish traffic colors (red, green, amber); hearing should be adequate in the better ear for conversational tones without the use of hearing aids. Meet minimum requirements of MMR post-employment physical examination, physical ability test and drug screen.
Working Conditions: Most work is done in a typical garage setting, but with daily exposure to all other department areas. Inside and outside work.
