GENERAL FUNCTION:

The Inside Sales Representative drives company growth by responding to customer needs, allowing the outside sales team to focus on field operations. This role supports sales through solution configuration, quote creation, outbound calls, order processing, and lead generation. Given the company’s evolving product line, the ideal candidate proactively stays current with industry advancements. The role requires problem-solving, data analysis, and continuous process improvement.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Account Development & Retention:

  • Maintain accurate customer records and notes in the CRM system (currently NetSuite).
  • Build and nurture relationships with existing and prospective customers through a consultative approach.


OUTBOUND SALES & LEAD GENERATION:

  • Follow up on leads and engage potential customers.
  • Conduct targeted lead generation efforts.
  • Prepare and deliver customer quotes.
  • Coordinate demo equipment as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with industry partners.


SALES & CUSTOMER SUPPORT:

  • Respond promptly to customer inquiries and quote requests.
  • Ensure pricing aligns with company policies and discount structures.
  • Escalate complex requests to the appropriate regional sales manager.
  • Assist regional sales managers with forecasting and project tracking.
  • Review orders for accuracy before forwarding to Customer Service.
  • Provide backup phone support for Customer Service as needed.
  • Engage and participate in Order Processing. 
  • Coordinate customer literature requests with the Marketing team.
  • Participate in weekly sales meetings and contribute to process improvements.
  • Support the President or Vice President of Sales with special projects as needed.


QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in direct sales or customer service.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience managing business-to-business accounts and working within corporate structures.
  • Proven success in selling to commercial or government customers is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. CRM experience (e.g., NetSuite, or Salesforce) preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, multitasking ability, and time management expertise.
  • Ability to quickly learn and understand the company’s product offerings and solutions.


ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

Reports directly to the Customer Experience Manager. Collaborates closely with the sales team, customer service, and internal associates. No supervisory responsibilities.


COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to actively listen, identify customer challenges, and provide solutions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of internal and customer information.


COGNITIVE & TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and professionalism in customer interactions.
  • Must stay updated on industry trends, including fleet vehicles, wireless technology, and mobile computing solutions.


WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday. Flexible start/end times negotiable.
  • Office-based role with minimal physical risk. Occasional travel may be required.
