As a Reimbursement Advocate, you will work closely with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients to facilitate the reimbursement process and resolve any issues that may arise.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding and documentation.
- Utilize knowledge of DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) and ICD-10/ICD-9 coding systems to assist in the reimbursement process.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve billing discrepancies.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices, and reimbursement policies.
- Assist patients in understanding their financial responsibilities and available options for payment.
- Collaborate with the medical office team to ensure accurate claims submission and follow-up on outstanding claims.
- Document all interactions with patients and payers in accordance with company policies.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or similar role.
- Strong understanding of medical records management and coding practices, including ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and the reimbursement process.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to assess complex information effectively.
- Experience in medical collections is a plus.
