Job Responsibilities: Mechanical Engineering Co-op – Autonomous Robotics 📍 Location: Lowell, MA 📅 Term: Fall 2025 Role Summary Magna New Mobility is looking for a highly motivated Mechanical Engineering Co-op to join our cutting-edge New Mobility group in Lowell, MA. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience in the mechanical design, development, and testing of autonomous mobile robotics (AMR) systems. You’ll collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to contribute to real-world projects, assist with prototyping and testing, and develop engineering solutions that impact next-generation robotic technologies. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your mechanical engineering skills in a fast-paced environment where innovation, creativity, and problem-solving are highly valued. Key Responsibilities As a Mechanical Engineering Co-op, you will: Assist in mechanical design and 3D modeling using CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo). Support the development, prototyping, and testing of robotic components and assemblies. Help with the integration of sensors, actuators, and mechanical structures in robotic systems. Conduct basic structural and thermal analysis to validate design concepts. Work on design documentation, including 2D drawings, mechanical specifications, and test reports. Assist in building, modifying, and testing engineering prototype samples. Collaborate with engineers on manufacturing methods and design for production. Participate in team meetings and design reviews, contributing ideas and solutions. Key Qualifications & Requirements Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field. Experience with mechanical design and CAD (SolidWorks, Creo, or similar). Preferred Skills (but not required): Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques (e.g., 3D printing, machining, laser cutting). Basic understanding of mechanical structures, electromechanical actuators, and sensor integration.
