What You’ll Do

A Systems Support Specialist is an information technology (IT) professional who maintains computer hardware and software systems. They’re responsible for installing new programs, managing updates and providing technical support. This role requires meticulous attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. In addition to deployment tasks, the Deployment Engineer will also be involved in standard maintenance duties to ensure the reliability and performance of our systems.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Diagnosing and resolving technical issues with hardware or software systems
  • Consulting with users over the phone, in person or via online chat to understand and troubleshoot technical issues
  • Determining the need for and subsequently providing system reconfiguration
  • Assessing user needs and recommending technical solutions such as patches, upgrades or enhancements
  • Documenting technical support procedures and maintaining customer records
  • Responding promptly to queries and providing information on the proper installation, maintenance and use of technical systems
  • Completing thorough installations on the client environment, upgrading computer/devices as needed and installing new software or hardware solutions
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Document technical procedures and maintain accurate records of changes made to systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address system technical requirements.
  • Participate in regular maintenance activities, such as system updates, patch management, and performance monitoring.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to streamline technical processes and improve efficiency.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices in IT and maintenance.
  • Support ad-hoc reporting and data requests

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Reported issues to helpdesk ticket system.
  • Average time to resolve desktop support tickets.
  • Problem Resolution Rate - percentage of problems that the service desk resolves within a certain timeframe
  • Incident volume - total number of incidents or tickets that users open within a certain amount of time.

WORK SCHEDULE/TRAVEL

  • 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
  • Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Master's degree is preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • 7-10 years of experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Technology, or a related field.
  • Background in tech support, information technology or a similar discipline.
  • Experience working with customers, ideally online and in person.
  • Previous success in a technical support position.
  • Understanding of software maintenance and best practices.
  • Ability to break down complex topics for different audiences.
  • In-depth knowledge of company’s software and hardware products.
  • Skilled in executing software patches and other fixes.
  • Experienced in testing and installing new software and hardware.
  • Familiar with online video platforms for meeting with customers.
  • Writing skills for explaining technical maintenance, processes and solutions.
  • Experience with SQL
  • IT support experience in a warehouse operations environment.
