Description
The Trainer will be a mentor to all new employees and help create and demonstrate a culture of engagement and positivity. Conducts focused training needs assessments within PDCs; designs, develops, delivers, and evaluates a range of responsive training programs within defined fields of expertise. Training deliverables include all aspects of warehousing activities such as packing, picking orders, Sorting, Handling Returns, Inventory, Put-away, building pallets, use of carts/pallet jacks, and all other PDC job functions. Responsible for training and onboarding of new hired individuals and those inducted through job rotation activities by ensuring that they comprehend warehouse processes. Holds audits to measure effectiveness of training and recommend content/delivery improvements. Promotes safety awareness and proper ergonomics in material handling. Works closely with the warehouse managers to ensure working procedures, applications, technology, and systems are up to date.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivers group and individual instruction and training covering a range of technical, operational, and/or management areas in a specified field.
- Formulates training outlines and determines instructional methods, utilizing knowledge of specified training needs and effectiveness of such methods as individual training, group instruction, demonstrations, meetings, and workshops.
- Selects training aids, including training handbooks, demonstration models, visual aids, and reference works.
- Coordinates or performs administrative functions necessary to deliver and document training programs.
- Provides feedback on the effectiveness/success level of training and development programs and utilizes relevant evaluation data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods.
- Create and administer evaluations (written, verbal, competency demonstration and hands-on application)
- Assists in analyzing and assessing training and development needs for individuals or Specific Job Functions.
- The Training Specialist will implement and interpret SOPs for the PDC Functional Onboarding program at their respective location
- The Training Specialist will partner with the Lean and Human Resources to support retraining/development initiatives when necessary.
- Additional responsibilities include assisting with the training metrics at their respective location
- The Training Specialist will have indirect reporting to Lean Team to ensure standardization of training, maintenance & support of training materials, and leveraging learning industry best practices.
- Ensures new hires are provided quality onboarding experience
- Train all new associates according to SOPs and processes
- Update training resources in collaboration with HQ Lean team.
- Identify processes that may require its own SOP and communicate with HQ team
- Maintain current and accurate training matrix.
- Ensure all new associates complete all compliance training according to Powered Industrial Trucks - PIT guidelines.
- Coordinates and supports the facilitation of the Powered Industrial Trucks - PIT training.
- Cross train associates in other areas needed
- Provide feedback to Leadership 30/60/90 reviews.
- When necessary, work within the operation to ensure goals are met.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Work Schedule & Travel Requirements
- Monday through Friday, some weekends may be required.
Required Qualifications
Education Requirements
- Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified in a warehouse environment.
- Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
Experience Requirements
- 3 years’ experience in a similar position or relevant experience.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience training, teaching, or presenting to associates.
- Experience in similar position required, i.e., Lead or Coordinator roles.
Working Conditions
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand sometimes in excess of 7 hours and use hands to handle or feel.
- The employee may periodically lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
