Position Summary:
The technician's role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and performance of our electric vehicle batteries. This role focuses on monitoring and adjusting plasma vision and welding processes, providing guidance, and troubleshooting for our internal welding process. Technicians also serve as a Subject Matter Expert for welds, all types of quality inspections on the production line, and investigating customer issues. The position requires a proactive approach, emphasizing investigation, analysis, and improvements to maintain high quality standards for our batter production.
Essential Functions (To perform within this position successfully, the incumbent must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned.)
- Continually monitor plasma vision results to assess weld quality, ensuring adherence to established standards
- Analyze and troubleshoot non-conforming welds to identify root causes and implement corrective actions
- Execute strategies to enhance the first-pass yield rate, thereby reducing the rework and improving production efficiency
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement countermeasures to enhance battery quality
- Conduct inspections at various stages of the production process
- Identify and diagnose defects using data analysis and various troubleshooting techniques.
- Analyze data and perform root cause analysis, utilizing the insights gained from precision measurement equipment, to determine the source of quality issues.
- Develop and implement corrective actions to address quality issues, leveraging the capabilities of precision measurement equipment to ensure effectiveness.
- Document all inspections, findings, improvements made, and relevant data for future reference and analysis.
- Maintain and calibrate precision measurement electrical equipment in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Train and mentor other team members on proper inspection techniques, correct documentation, and safe use of all quality inspection equipment
- Comply with and promote company practices in safety, human relations, quality, cost, housekeeping, and delivery targets for area.
- Position requires working overtime over 40 hours per week.

Basic Qualifications (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required and preferred for this position.)
Required Education & Experience:
- Experience working with quality control in production or manufacturing facility
- Some knowledge of laser welding, weld strength testing, or weld depth testing
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- Proven experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Completion of an associate's degree, some college or a certificate from an educational institution in a related filed, Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive Technology, or Precision Measurement Engineering
- Experience working in a quality control environment, preferably in the automotive or battery manufacturing industry
- Working knowledge of 8D, 5 Why, and six sigma
- Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles Plasma vision system, welding inspection experience
