Overview
- The Director of Infection Control is responsible for ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care through the coordination of the hospital-wide Infection Prevention Program
- This role involves surveillance, analysis, and reporting of hospital-acquired infections, staff education, and the development of health system policies and performance improvement projects to maintain rigorous infection prevention standards
- The Director collaborates with quality leaders and the Infection Prevention team to make informed decisions regarding infection control and prevention, requiring interaction with various stakeholders including patients, staff, and regulatory agencies
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for the hospital Infection Prevention program
- Conduct annual Infection Prevention Risk Assessment and Plan
- Engage with Employee Health leaders to provide input on policies and practices for employee health and infection control
- Perform process evaluation and qualitative/quantitative analysis for infection prevention improvement opportunities
- Promote an interdisciplinary approach for tracking and resolving infection prevention issues
- Collaborate with departments to develop and update infection prevention policies and practices
Responsibilities
- Daily monitoring of Infection Control Program, including reduction in the risk of infectious outbreaks.
- Conducts Employee Health Services, including monitoring vaccination rates annually.
- Effectively conducts annual health fairs and communicates pertinent Infection Control information to staff.
- Conducts competence assessment and job performance planning and evaluation process on assigned staff in a timely manner, according to MBMHI policy.
- Assess training needs, coordinates training offered to staff for performance improvement projects, policy updates and proves changes.
- Prepares meeting agenda and reports monthly to review at the Infection Control Committee. Reviews and approves Infection Control Committee meeting minutes.
- Reports Infection Control/Staff Development information at least monthly to appropriate committees.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate degree in an applied clinical science including Nursing and four years experience in infection control.
- Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Tennessee or holds privilege to practice in the State of Tennessee under the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to patient confidentiality.
- Experience in supervising nursing staff is preferred.
- Familiarity with documentation review processes and quality assurance measures.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
