Operations Manager
Reporting directly to the Director of Operations and managing a team of 5 to 10 Fulfillment Specialists, Leads, and PIT Operators, this is a unique opportunity for someone early in their career to join a team of rock stars and help build something great. The Operations Manager is directly responsible for managing fulfillment operations in a Fulfillment Center (FC), ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely processing of orders and receipt of inventory.
You will be comfortable wearing multiple hats, taking on full ownership of your operations, and leading and developing your team of Fulfillment Leads, PIT Operators, and Fulfillment Specialists.
You understand that getting your hands dirty is a critical part of building, leading, and managing a high-performing team. You inspire your team to continuously improve and meet the commitments we make to our clients and customers, and you hold your team members accountable.
Mostly importantly, you are eager to learn and grow as an operations leader. We believe in developing our leaders to take on bigger roles and challenges, and many of our current senior leaders started in this role.
Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities may include (but are not limited to):
- Responsible for the overall safety, quality, productivity, and customer experience of shift operations.
- Support all safety programs to ensure a safe work environment for all team members, and develop and implement new safety initiatives to improve operations safety.
- Monitor performance of fulfillment center staff; ensure proper coaching and development of the team; mentor team members to be able to take on roles with greater responsibility, complexity, and leadership.
- Actively improve processes and systems to exceed safety, quality, and production goals.
- Review work forecasts and determine staffing needs to meet the daily, weekly, and monthly production goals, making adjustments as needed and appropriate.
- Collect, analyze, and monitor data to reduce defects; passionate about creating improvement ideas, including ideas generated from your team, into improvement plans for your operation You should be comfortable learning and using the principles of Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing.
- Escalate all issues to the Director of Operations.

- Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty. These is a hands-on leadership role. Almost all of your time will be spent on the production floor; very little of your time will be spent behind a desk.

- Ability to operate in a continuous improvement environment where you will always be developing and implementing new ideas and creative solutions as well as improving existing processes.

Qualifications
- A completed Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university; a degree in Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Engineering or related quantitative field is preferred.
- Direct management experience of an hourly workforce; experience with a contingent workforce and management experience in a manufacturing, production, or distribution environment preferred.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including an ability to communicate with the senior leadership team, clients, and warehouse staff.
- Ability to understand and manage to performance metrics.
- Ability to manage a team using performance metrics, as well as the ability to analyze large data sets to identify opportunities to improve performance. Must be comfortable using spreadsheet applications and learning new software programs. Proficiency in SQL a plus.
- Interest in long-term career development with a rapidly growing and innovative company.
In addition, this position entails the following:
- Ability to work in construction/distribution environments that may be noisy, unheated, and not air-conditioned.
- Continuous walking, standing, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, and handling in a warehouse environment, including regular bending, lifting, stretching and reaching both below the waist and above the head. Ability to walk an average of 10 miles daily, lifting of up to 50 lbs, and ability to access all areas of building (ascending and descending stairs and ladders safely and without limitation).
- Ability to operate a Powered Industrial Truck (PIT).
- Position has Monday-Friday daytime hours, but you must have the ability to adjust hours to work overtime and occasional weekend days during periods of peak demand.
