Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

As General Sales Manager, you will take ownership of critical sales operations, team leadership, and strategic decision-making to drive success in our Elgin used commercial vehicle center. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Sales Leadership – Develop and execute sales strategies to meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for used commercial vehicles.
  • Team Management – Lead, mentor, and motivate the sales team to foster a high-performance culture. Oversee hiring, training, and professional development to ensure team members are equipped to achieve success.
  • Customer Relations – Build and maintain strong customer relationships, ensuring high satisfaction and repeat business. Handle inquiries, concerns, and issue resolution to maintain a premium customer experience.
  • Inventory Management – Work closely with purchasing and operations teams to maintain an optimal vehicle selection. Analyze demand, pricing trends, and turnover rates to drive data-based stocking and replenishment decisions. Collaborate with reconditioning teams to ensure vehicle quality and maximize appeal.
  • Disposition Management – Oversee processes for timely disposition of aged or underperforming inventory. Implement pricing and sales strategies to balance inventory and maximize profitability. Manage relationships with auction partners, wholesalers, and other sales channels to effectively offload surplus inventory.
  • Sales Forecasting & Reporting – Prepare and deliver accurate sales forecasts, budgets, and performance reports. Analyze sales metrics and market trends to refine strategies and optimize business performance.
  • Profitability Management – Drive revenue growth and profitability through strategic pricing, cost control, and operational efficiency. Ensure all sales activities align with financial objectives.
  • Compliance – Maintain compliance with all legal, regulatory, and company policies to uphold operational integrity and industry standards.

Qualifications

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of sales management experience, with at least 3 years in commercial vehicles, trucking, or a related field. Used vehicle sales experience is preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or a related field preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills. Proficiency in sales and CRM software.
  • Characteristics: Results-oriented, customer-focused, and driven to exceed targets. Proven ability to adapt and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range

$100,000 to $125,000
