POSITION SUMMARY
Modern Government Solutions (MGS) is seeking an Instructional Systems Designer to join our team in shaping impactful learning experiences. In this role, you will design, develop, and evaluate cutting-edge technical training programs, instructional materials, and assessment tools. You'll play a critical role in analyzing complex learning needs and transforming them into engaging, effective training solutions that empower learners and support mission success.
RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):
- Design, develop, review, validate, and revise technical training courses and instructional strategies across multiple functional specialties.
- Conduct comprehensive studies and analyses to produce full-length training products, including advanced technical systems or content comparable to upper-level undergraduate coursework.
- Develop non-standardized or complex courses using challenging source materials that may be excessive, outdated, or difficult to adapt, serving diverse instructional audiences.
- Conduct needs analyses and task/learning analyses to define instructional requirements and design effective learning experiences.
- Develop instructional design plans that often require adaptation of existing guides or creation of new instructional approaches, methods, or techniques.
- Integrate new equipment design changes or evolving subject matter into course plans, revising content structure, style, format, and delivery to meet educational standards.
- Create effective instructional methodologies, including sequence of content delivery, learner interaction, feedback mechanisms, and remediation strategies.
- Ensure final training products align with established educational theories and best practices.
- Provide recommendations on instructional policies, course coverage, admissions standards, and instructional methods to improve training effectiveness.
- Conduct classroom and training area visits to assess instructional soundness and document evaluation findings.
- Review and assess instructional media and materials to ensure alignment with lesson plans and instructional goals; recommend revisions as needed.
- Evaluate audiovisual tools and products for instructional adequacy and recommend improvements.
- Plan, revise, and enhance instructional content and media to ensure quality, relevance, and compliance with educational standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Curriculum Development, Instructional Design, Learning Design or a related education field from a regionally accredited institution.
- Experience in online curriculum development and instructional design experience with a team (e.g., subject-matter-experts, multimedia developers, and developers).
- Knowledgeable with ICIS, TTMS and LMS systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google products.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills - must work effectively both individually and as a virtual team member.
- Strong project and time management skills, e.g., meeting deadlines and handling diverse tasks simultaneously using prioritization.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Familiarity with AETC course management and instructional design.
- Prior experience as an Instructor Supervisor or training manager.
- Background on Special Warfare and AETC training methodology.
- Ability to learn emerging technologies.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Garrison work environment including but not limited to:
- Occasional field environments, Tactical observations of Final Exercise Phase (FEP) and other key training phases.
- Occasional extended working hours are required.
