Inspector Gage Lab MMD Class A
GENERAL:
Responsible for inspecting in process and finished parts to ensure that customer requirements are met. Responsible for maintaining the gage calibration system for all divisions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
Must have high school diploma or equivalent and three years minimum experience in performing dimensional inspections. Must demonstrate proficient performance of Class B Inspector essential duties. Must be proficient in current computer software.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Interpret drawings, control plans, process instructions and work instructions to determine sample quantities and features to be inspected for lots of parts.
2. Use micrometers, calipers, visual inspection, and other gages as required to complete planned inspections.
3. Maintain the gage calibration system, including internal and external calibration records.
4. Calibrate all gages in the calibration system, internally in compliance with work instructions and externally through vendors.
5. Identify and report conditions that do not meet requirements and approve acceptable parts for shipment or further processing.
6. Transfer rejected parts to staging area and log data into the ERP system.
7. Verify implementation of appropriate correct action for quality issues.
8. Maintain clean work areas and orderly storage of fixtures, gages and special inspection equipment.
9. Wear personal protective equipment and follow safety instructions as required.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
REQUIREMENTS:
· Must be able to lift parts and other items from floor to waist on a frequent basis, while protecting lifted items from damage. Parts weigh 50 lbs. on an occasional basis, 35 lbs. on a frequent basis.
· Must be able to stand for several consecutive hours without rest, with frequent bending and reaching.
· Must be able to tolerate a hot work environment seasonally, when summer outdoor temperatures combine with residual heat from machines.
· Must be able to walk within and between areas frequently and climb stairs occasionally.
· Must be able to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions.
· Must be able to comprehend and comply with detailed gage calibration work instructions and practices
· Must be able to retain instructions sufficient to perform complex tasks successfully and with very minimal supervision.
· Must be able to read and understand drawings and precision measuring instruments.
· Must be able to comprehend and comply with the requirements of the Quality Systems Manual as instructed.
