Position Summary: The Cost Estimation Engineer analyzes drawings, models, job specifications, and related data to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates for quoting customer products for quotes (RFQ).
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Reviews customer drawings, models, specifications, and all relevant data to determine material and labor requirements.
- Consults with the sales team, engineering department, shop team members, vendors, and customers as required.
- Confirm customer requirements and ensure expectations are fully understood.
- Knowledge and experience using and applying GD&T.
- Work with production control personnel to determine lead times, identify scheduling conflicts, production bottlenecks, missing information.
- Work with suppliers to specify and obtain accurate and competitive pricing on materials and outside services.
- Discuss changes and adjustments to cost estimates and review with quoting team.
- Accurately identifies cost factors, develops pricing, and prepares quotations within specified time frames. Complete quote forms and compiles related information.
- Organizes and manages cost estimating files and a formal process to support cost estimating to ensure historical data is utilized and applied to future quotations.
- Works with accounting team to analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements: High school diploma, working towards an advanced technical degree or equivalent knowledge gained from experience related to estimating machining and/or fabrication jobs.
Preferred:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience with machining processes, metal finishing, etc.
- Ability to read drawings and models; and proficiency with SolidWorks, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel
- Manage time effectively, in order to accomplish the highest-priority goals and objectives
- Demonstrate effective spoken and written communication skills
Salary : $75,000 - $100,000
