Moderna is seeking an Associate Director who will be responsible for informing, implementing and delivering the global Medical Affairs plan and associated initiatives for pipeline vaccines within Moderna’s latent programs including CMV, Norovirus, EBV, HSV and Lyme Disease. The incumbent will partner and work closely with external and internal stakeholders across Moderna, including regional Medical Affairs colleagues, Research and Development, Clinical and Commercial to fulfill the following primary responsibilities:
Contribute to and execute Medical Affairs plans and scientific priorities for assigned vaccines across different products lifecycle: Late-stage development through launches of CMV and Norovirus vaccines and Early-stage development of EBV, HSV and Lyme Disease vaccines. Coordinate and support medical education and congress activities as well as other scientific engagements to ensure dissemination of accurate, balanced, and timely scientific information. Engage with external experts, patient advocacy groups and medical societies, gather advice from them through advisory programs and foster scientific partnerships.

Here’s What You’ll Do
- Provide scientific and technical input on the relevance and impact of clinical and scientific data to develop effective communication plans and tactics.
- Collaborate closely with Scientific Communication Lead to synthesize and incorporate key messages into Medical Affairs materials and scientific narratives across all internal functions.
- Review abstracts and manuscripts for scientific accuracy and alignment with medical and business strategic priorities.
- Engage with key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals to build partnerships and ensure alignment with medical strategies.
- Serve as liaison between the company and patient advocacy groups and medical societies, to collaborate on initiatives and operationally support grants and sponsorships being submitted.
- Support implementation of medical education programs and congress activities.
- Provide scientific and operational support for advisory boards and core consultancy meetings to gather scientific advice.
- Provide medical insights and strategic input to cross-functional teams, including commercial, regulatory, clinical development, and market access.
- Support development and execution of training materials to be used internally and externally especially during pre-launch periods.
- Stay informed on scientific and technological updates and competitive intelligence through conferences and medical literature and act as a therapeutic area resource to help educate and update the cross-functional and regional teams on the epidemiologic, clinical and scientific profile of ours and competing products.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, ethical guidelines, and company policies in all medical activities.
- Advanced scientific degree required– MD, PhD, PharmD, or MSc.
- 3 years of relevant industry experience, ideally within vaccines and medical affairs.
- MD preferred
- Experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry within Medical Affairs, preferably within vaccine development and infectious diseases.
- Highly motivated, self-starter with a track record of excelling in a fast-paced and rapidly developing functional area and ability to prioritize effectively.
- Proven ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams in a matrix organization and to build strong relationships internally and externally.
- Strong negotiation, verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills with a good awareness of global cultural differences.
- Maintaining optimism and energy in the face of change and adversity; willing to collaborate and to problem solve
- Excellent attention to details.
- Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
