We're a post-revenue, funded startup, leveraging real-world data to improve how people get around cities and campuses. Modii offers comprehensive solutions for end-users and administrators alike: our Parking Finder helps people make smart transportation and parking choices in cities and at universities, while our Admin Dashboard equips administrators with sophisticated tools to analyze, plan and manage parking operations effortlessly.
We’re proud of the culture we’ve built at Modii and truly believe that work should be a place where you come to grow, have fun, be challenged and build relationships. As a team, we value Innovation, Customer Satisfaction, Transparency, Collaboration and Excellence and sit remotely across the U.S. and Australia with a hub in Denver, CO.
While contracted Parking Data Collectors collaborate primarily with our Project Manager and Parking Cartographer, we aim for you to enjoy your time with us and value your critical contributions toward the improvement of our data collection processes and buildout of our customer solutions.
About the Role
Modii is working with the Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) to digitize downtown Philadelphia's on-street parking assets. We’re looking for 5 contractors to collect the on-the-ground data required for our Customer Success, Product and Engineering teams to map Philly’s parking and street assets and develop tailored software solutions.
What you’ll do as a Parking Data Collector:
- Contribute ~20 hrs/week between mid-October and mid-December toward data collection.*
- Report to Modii’s Project Manager and collaborate with our Customer Success team.
- Receive training in our data collection software and process.
- Collect data points of key parking-related features, including parking signs, payment kiosks, on street ramps, fire hydrants.
- Help test and provide feedback on how to streamline our data collection software and processes.
- Communicate with the project team via Slack and during remote project/progress meetings over Zoom.
You will receive a “data collection kit” by mail with equipment necessary for collection. The kit will come with prepaid postage, and final payment will be contingent on the return of this equipment at the conclusion of the contract period.
*Data collection hours will be self-directed within a timeframe advised by the Project Manager, and weekly remote progress check-ins will be based on schedules and set during onboarding. The anticipated contracting window may fluctuate based on project needs and contractor schedules.
About you
No previous experience in data collection is required; you’ll be fully trained in our software and process. In order to perform this role effectively, we need contractors to have:
- The ability to navigate dense city streets comfortably and safely outside of a motor vehicle for an average of 2 miles at a time in seasonal weather conditions.
- For some contractors, a vehicle to collect data points that are spaced further apart.
- Availability of ~20 hrs/week between mid-October and mid-December (these dates may fluctuate based on project needs and contractor schedules).
We also hope that applicants will:
- Thrive doing active, hands-on work
- Bring a high attention to detail
- Feel confident navigating a smart phone and picking up new technologies
