What are the responsibilities and job description for the Broker of Record position at Modus Closing?

As a Broker of Record at Compass, you are the primary compliance and regulatory lead for the entity within the state in which you are the primary broker. You will be responsible to meet local requirements for the brokerage and licensees, help retain and guide Compass agents while fostering an exceptional company culture and customer experience. This role is instrumental in the success of the organization and includes assisting in all operational elements necessary to comply with the individual state license law, REALTOR® association membership, MLS participation, and continuing education. You are responsible for developing various compliance related initiatives, policies, and training in alignment with the company’s vision and values regarding risk management and compliance.
You will be responsible for aiding the agent population and Sales Leaders in mitigating compliance risk for Compass and our agents. Additionally, you will work with our National teams to provide strategic guidance and regional insight in regard to audit, risk, and compliance, including supporting arbitration and legal negotiations relating to real estate transactions.
Please note: this role is 100% in-office in either our Wayne or Ardmore, PA offices.
At Compass you will:
Work with Sales Management leadership/Managing Director/RVP to organize and lead agent training on compliance and E&O issues based on recurring themes or updated regulations.
Provide agents and Sales Leaders with feedback and professional development guidance on risk management and compliance.
Develop initiatives to boost agent compliance and reinforce proactive practices of risk reduction.
Provide day to day oversight of compliance, including tracking of key metrics that drive compliance and risk reduction. Facilitate regular reporting of status of compliance and risk reduction across the state/region.
Ensure a compliant and efficient recruiting process in partnership with our Strategic Growth teams.
Oversee our local compliance team, manage their performance and build efficiency and scale through delegation and process improvement
Work with internal teams to ensure compliance, consistency and best practices across Compass markets (product development other BORs, TOps, etc),
Industry requirements:
Be responsible for applying for licensure, securing and maintaining membership in real estate associations as requested, applying for credentials with Real Estate Boards and Associations and their MLSs.
Be responsible for building relationships with State organizations, The Major Boards, Real Estate Commissions, and other stakeholders.
Be responsible for diligence around market norms (at state/regional level) as it pertains to transactions, commission, and other real estate workflow.
Ideal Candidate:
Active managing level (designated/employing) state license (Pennsylvania Brokers License required; New Jersey and/or Delaware Brokers License a plus)
5 years of sales and broker experience
Analytical, detail, and operations minded
Ability to problem solve efficiently, work across multiple teams (regional teams, outside counsel, and National/Executive teams)
Creative thinker with high ethical standards and a professional demeanor
Strong verbal (phone/video/in person) and written communication skills, technically competent, and trustworthy with sensitive and confidential information.
