    Position: Director of Summer School

    • Salary: $45.00/hour

    Education and/or Experience:

    • Master’s degree (M.A.) from an accredited four year college or university (required).
    • Five years teaching experience (required). Eight years teaching experience (preferred).
    • Two years in a school leadership role (required).

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Colorado Principal License (required).

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Instructional Management

    • Monitor instructional processes to ensure program activities are related to outcomes and use findings to take corrective actions where necessary.
    • Provide instructional resources and materials needed to accomplish instructional goals.
    • Establish clear expectations for staff performance about instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication with the public.
    • Foster collegiality and team building among staff members. Encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process.
    • Solicit regular input from campus-level committees about planning, operation, supervision, and evaluation of campus education programs. Include students and community representatives when appropriate.


    Student Management

    • Act as campus behavior coordinator in accordance with state laws and regulations.
    • Work with faculty and students to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behavior and enhances the school climate.
    • Ensure that school rules are uniformly applied and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.

    Fiscal, Administrative and Facilities Functions

    • Comply with district policies, state and federal laws, and regulations affecting schools.
    • Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required including accurate and timely reports of maximum attendance to requisition textbooks.
    • Manage use of school facilities. Oversee maintenance of facilities to ensure a clean, orderly, and safe campus.


    Personnel Management

    • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and make recommendations relative to assignment, retention, discipline, and dismissal. Approve all personnel assigned to campus.
    • Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences with staff.
    • Conduct supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the district’s policies and applicable laws.

    • Other duties as assigned.


    Supervisory Responsibilities: The employee supervises summer school teachers, students in the class, paraprofessonals if assigned, and volunteers if applicable.

Full pay range may be found on the appropriate salary schedule. Employees hired new into a position are rarely qualified to receive the maximum of the pay range shown on the salary schedule.

    Language Skills: Ability to read and analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff and the general public.

    Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

    Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory to instructional programs; ability to plan and implement lessons based on division and school objectives and the needs and abilities of students to whom assigned. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clear and concisely in written or oral communication.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to run; stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50lbs. The employee must occasionally push items of 75lbs. or more, such as pushing children on a bike or moving/rearranging furniture. Specific vision abilities required by this include close vision, distance vision, and depth perception.
