Job Title: Finance Technician
DEPARTMENT: Finance Department
WORK SCHEDULE: 12 Months/Year - 8.75 Hours/Day
Summary: The Finance Technician’s role is to support the daily operations of the district’s finance department.
*Salary: $23.20 - $35.96 hourly, dependent upon experience.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: None
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and updating financial records in an organized manner
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts and preparing basic financial statements
- Recording journal entries
- Calculating pay cheques for tax and related bills
- Completing and submitting tax remittance forms
- Performing other bookkeeping duties
- Implementing internal controls
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Abilities:
Education and Experience:
- Associates Degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Required)
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Highly Preferred)
- Experience with MS Office and Google Suite applications (Required)
- Experience with Tyler Technologies IVisions system (Highly Preferred)
- Experience with governmental accounting (Preferred)
- Experience with public school district accounting (Highly Preferred)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to present accounting concepts to other professionals
- Excellent organization skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality when managing company records
- Computer proficiency to work with digitalized financial records
- Strong numeracy skills
- Ability to establish and monitor financial reporting systems
- Critical-thinking and analytical skills
- Ability to prepare detailed reports and financial statements
