Summary
The Blood Bank Supervisor maintains the high quality of laboratory functions by coordinating and overseeing the technical activities of the blood bank/transfusion services section for all appropriate shifts. This role includes:
Supervision of the technical policies and procedures and the management and supervision of personnel.
New technology, maintaining the quality control program, proficiency testing, competency testing, meeting all regulatory requirements (CAP, FDA, JCAHO, CLIA, etc.) related to the processing of specimens and the performance of all blood bank/transfusion services testing, instrument maintenance and inventory management.
Other duties include: budget preparation and review, review of billing, cost accounting, productivity management, maintenance and testing of the LIS system related to blood bank/transfusion services, and other duties as assigned by manager or director.
The supervisor may also be required to fill in as a bench technologist as workload requires.
Education required: Formal training in Medical Technology
Preferred- Bachelor's degree
License required:
Fl State Laboratory Supervisor's license in Serology and Immunohematology
Experience required:
At least three years experience working with the basic laboratory sciences with regard to decision-making. One-year supervisory experience desirable.
