The Applied Research Scientist will work directly with Dr. Brian Gonzalez in the Department of Health Outcomes and Behavior at Moffitt Cancer Center. Dr. Gonzalez conducts observational and interventional research to improve quality of life in cancer patients and cancer survivors. Projects often involve multiple modes of data collection and intervention delivery, including patient-reported outcomes, objective measurement, biospecimens, and digital technologies.
The Applied Research Scientist will be responsible for helping to manage ongoing research projects and develop new projects at Moffitt Cancer Center. This non-tenure track position will have ample opportunities for authorship of peer-reviewed publications and other career-enhancing activities, such as attending conferences, workshops, lectures, and seminars to develop and maintain research skills.

Position Highlights
- The Applied Research Scientist I is a non-tenure track researcher who serves as part of a clinical/translational research team under the general direction of Dr. Gonzalez in the Population Science Research Division.
- The Applied Research Scientist I’s principal activity is research and related support activities including presentation at scientific meetings and production of scientific manuscripts.
- Has research experience in the academic and/or clinical setting, preferably in oncology.
- Has experience leading development of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
- Has experience leading or assisting with development of research grant applications.
- Has experience overseeing ongoing research protocols.
- Is a critical, independent, and creative thinker.
- Is professional, personable, organized, conscientious, and works well as a member of a team.
- Has excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Expected to supervise and train staff within the research lab.
- Participates in the planning, implementation, and conduct of research projects in collaboration with the overseeing Investigator. This includes contribution to preparation of grants, clinical protocols, progress reports, scientific manuscripts, data analysis, and daily management activities.
- Interacts closely with Investigator and other researchers within the Investigator Laboratory to conduct relevant literature searches and reviews.
- Responsible for the collection, organization, analysis and documentation of data as directed by the overseeing Investigator. Limited degree of supervision is required for the analysis of data and documentation of results.
- Attending and participating in appropriate conferences, workshops, lectures and seminars to maintain research skills
- A Ph.D. or other doctoral degree in behavioral or natural sciences, epidemiology, statistics, or other related discipline
- Postdoctoral experience preferred but not required.
