MOGAS Industries, Inc., A Flowserve Company, the leading manufacturer of severe service ball valves for extreme industrial applications is seeking a Service Machinist with experience with Manual Mills, Lathes, Drill Presses and Saws for our North Houston location.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Three (3) plus years minimum manual machining experience.
- Experience operating the following manual machines: mill, lathe, drill press, and saws.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficiently applies knowledge of machine shop theory and procedures, shop mathematics, machine ability of materials, and layout techniques to repair MOGAS valves for service.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications.
- Maintains regular proactive contact with all levels of sales, engineering, marketing and manufacturing to troubleshoot valve problems.
- Conducts failure analysis at MOGAS Service plant by reviewing and inspecting valves to determine exact cause of failures while recommending the proper course of action
- Inspects parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
- Prepares inspection reports describing the findings of the analysis.
- May respond to internal technical questions in reference to valves.
- Installs, programs, and repairs equipment by applying knowledge of electronics, mechanics, hydraulics.
- Performs daily task by using power tools, hand tools, and testing instruments according to Service manuals, schematics, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Willingly travels at a moment’s notice to assist with emergency repairs and meets demanding time constraints
- Proactively seeks to increase knowledge of applicable MOGAS applications
- May respond to customers’ technical questions related to valves
REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Skilled and able to setup, adjust and operate standard and special types of machine tools.
- Able to read machine drawings
- Able to read blueprint or job order for product specifications
- Basic business writing skills
- Ball valve knowledge preferred
- Effective problem resolution skills
- Ability to analyze technical issues and develop practical resolutions
- Proactive
- Must be able to work independently with little supervision
- Safety consciousness
- Strong technical skills in mechanical, hydraulics, electrical and/or systems areas
- Dedication and ability to travel and work in a field environment in remote locations domestic or international
