Overview:
This position requires licensure by the AZ Board of behavioral health in Counseling or Social Work.
The Therapist is responsible for conducting therapy appointments with patients currently in Residential
Treatment for Substance Use Disorder. The responsibility of the position requires that this individual assist clients in
recognizing that substance abuse is a disease. Therapist will motivate clients to
actively participate in their recovery process, assist them with learning new skills, gain knowledge to
improve their lives so they can live successfully without relying on alcohol or drugs.
This person will be a highly trained mental health professional who helps clients deal with Substance
abuse and behavioral issues, processing trauma, and grief. This individual will seek to secure a long-term
solution to mental and emotional disorders and a wide variety of issues. Therapist will seek to modify
perceptions of behavior, as well as improve communication among families in crisis.
Accountability: CEO, COO, Clinical Director, and staff
Duties:
• Works closely with administrative and clinical team to ensure that clients are stable,
comfortable, and progressing through their treatment appropriately.
• Works collaboratively with the Program Director and COO.
• Provides a safe and therapeutic environment to all staff and clients.
• Performs other tasks as assigned.
• Develop, monitor, and implement individualized plans in collaboration with client and clinical
team members.
• Educate clients about healthy coping mechanisms during the recovery process.
• Conduct individual, and group substance abuse therapy,
• Refer clients or family members to community resources or to specialists as necessary
Required Qualifications: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Licensed by the Arizona Board
of Behavioral Health as a Behavioral Health Professional. Minimum 2 years’ work experience in SUD
(Substance Use Disorder) Recovery field. CPR/First Aid Certificate required. Must have a current TB Test
and a valid state driver’s license. Should be proficient in a variety of office software (email tools,
spreadsheets and databases) and hardware (copy, fax, computer, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications: Holds a master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling. Has a minimum of two
years' experience in healthcare. Further licensed in related fields.
Physical Requirements: Must be able to sit, stand, and walk intermittently. May be required to lift up to
25lbs. May be required to ascend/descend stairs.
