The Sr Designer role is a high performing contributor that is responsible for creating innovative and user-centric designs for products, ensuring a seamless and engaging user experience. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting user research, and translating insights into visually appealing and functional designs.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of Mohawk’s design guidelines, internal processes, and technologies for daily use.
- Use artistic skills, design principles and machine perimeters to develop technically accurate artwork in response to design request, specific instruction, or generic brief while maintaining acceptable lead times.
- Work within and maintain Mohawk’s copyright policies.
- Use Industry standard software to create technically accurate and aesthetically innovative designs for specific machine types.
- Follow defined business and industrial standards to produce work as defined by leadership.
- Lead artwork reviews, mentoring sessions, and team discussions for continuous development and increased knowledge of practical design skills, company and industry standards, and internal / external design expectations.
- Research markets by participating in company-supported research methods such as trend reports, subscription materials, and research outings.
- Present designs to potential clients/customers as needed.
- Lead projects and assignments as part of a large work team.
- Make processes and business decisions based on understanding of company and customer as well as industry practices, standards, and trends.
- Lead after-action reviews to identify, document, and share lessons learned.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to evaluate technical, system, and process improvements.
- Perform other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- 4-6 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated proficiency using various design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, AS400, CAD, Nedgraphics, EasyMap, Tuft and Texcelle Software.
- Technical knowledge of roto-gravure printing, digital printing, and flooring production processes preferred.
- For colorist-specific role, must be able to pass a colorblind test.
- Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline.
- Excellent communication, problem solving, and organizational skills.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
- Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite products.
- Flexible attitude, adaptable to change, team player, and able to handle multiple projects at once.
- High degree of professionalism, judgment, maturity, and resourcefulness in the absence of formalized guidelines and procedures.
