Job Overview
The MDS Coordinator plays a vital role in the healthcare team by ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient care. Duties
- Oversee the completion of Minimum Data Set (MDS) assessments for residents in accordance with federal and state regulations.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to gather necessary clinical information for accurate documentation.
- Ensure that all medical records are maintained and updated in compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Utilize knowledge of ICD-10 and ICD-9 coding systems to support accurate billing and reimbursement processes.
- Conduct regular audits of clinical documentation to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Provide training and support to staff on MDS processes, coding, and documentation standards.
- Monitor patient care plans to ensure they align with MDS assessments and reflect the needs of patients.
- Act as a liaison between the Level II Trauma Center and other departments to facilitate effective communication regarding patient care.
