RATE OF PAY:
$16.22 - $21.62 per hour
JOB FUNCTION:
Diagnose energy reduction needs, perform basic conservation measures and install energy saving materials for low-income households to help them save money, alleviate poverty, achieve self-sufficiency and/or improve living conditions. Supervise crew laborers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Analyze, repair, replace and install energy conservation measures/components.
- Meet contract deadlines and ensure work is in compliance with codes and permits.
- Follow industry standards such as Lead Safe Work Practices and ensure crew members follow the standards.
- Maintain a safe worksite, follow safe work practices, recognize work-site problem areas, report to supervisor and ensure crew members follow the same practices.
- Use training, experience and initiative to implement measures on difficult projects.
- Coach and motivate crew of job duties and supervise crew effectiveness.
- Track tools, materials, parts, and inventory according to Agency policies.
- Ensure crew members maintain tools according to Agency policies.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of agency vehicles and report any issues.
- Attend and participate in required trainings and meetings.
- Adhere to Agency policy regarding breaks, leave, tardiness and absences.
- Complete all paperwork correctly, neatly, and on time.
- Maintain current NYS driver's license and adheres to the rules of the road.
- Follow directions of supervisory personnel and work cooperatively with the team.
- Understand Agency mission to integrate services, recognize family needs, and make appropriate referrals for services which can help customers out of poverty.
- Treat low-income customers with respect, flexibility, and professionalism and consider their input when solving problems.
- Ensure crew members treat all customers with respect and remain professional.
- Treat co-workers with respect, flexibility, and professionalism.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be adaptable to change and Agency growth.
- Perform other duties as requested by managers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- One (1) to three (3) years’ experience in construction, energy, conservation, or related field.
- BPI certifications or ability to obtain in 1st year.
- Clean, valid NYS drivers’ license and reliable transportation to and from MVCAA offices.
- Knowledge of energy conservation measures.
- Ability to organize, schedule, and supervise work and crews.
- Work as a member of a team and independently.
- Effectively communicate with co-workers, the public and low-income families from diverse backgrounds.
- Understanding of low-income, poverty and diversity-related issues and the Agency’s commitment to the continuum of care and service integration preferred.
- Basic literacy skills
