Description
RATE OF PAY:
$25.75 per hour
JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for ensuring the Center exceeds Head Start Performance Standards and New York State Day Care Licensing according to the Child Development Philosophy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Utilizing a comprehensive, coordinated approach, the Site Supervisor oversees the coordination of all program components.
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates staff while also being responsible to ensure classroom ratios are met at all times.
- Coordinate and facilitate the daily operations of the Head Start site, ensuring that all staff conduct themselves in a professional manner consistent with agency employee policy.
- Provide supervision of all center staff, including time sheets, leave sheets and flex time.
- Meet with service area managers/coordinators as needed, to maintain quality services to ensure the center provides a safe, healthy and risk-free environment for children, staff and parents.
- Monitor daily and monthly requirements to ensure classrooms are meeting performance standards and ensuring families are getting the services they need.
- Be familiar with the New York State Office of Child and Family Services Day Care Regulations (part 418) and be able to provide the necessary documentation to the NYSOCFS for the renewal of the day care license.
- Complete all required documentation, including annual evaluations of center staff in collaboration with the service area manager.
- Monitor the inventory of the center, keep an ongoing record of consumable supplies and submit orders when necessary.
- Conduct regular center staff meetings.
- Maintain confidentiality of all family and child records and all matters relating to families.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Adhere to relevant health and safety policies and procedures.
- Report incidents or concerns of child abuse or neglect as a mandated reporter.
- Spends a minimum of 50% of time in classrooms; conducts classroom observations, offers support and guidance to classroom staff, and ensures developmentally appropriate practice.
- Participates in annual Self Assessment.
- Obtains and reports program In-kind.
- Understands and supports program School Readiness goals and objectives.
- Demonstrates commitment to mission, values and policies in the performance of daily duties.
- Understands and supports MVCAA, Inc. Supervision of Children policy.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs other duties as requested by the Director or Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- On-site Site Supervisor: BS/BA in Early Childhood or related field w/ 12 credits of Early Childhood Coursework plus 1 year experience teaching in a Child Day Care program and 1 year experience supervising staff in a childcare program or related field of work
- Floating Site Supervisor: Minimum of an Associate Degree in Early Childhood or related field w/ 12 credits of Early Childhood Coursework plus 1-year experience teaching in a Child Day Care program and 1-year experience supervising staff in a childcare program or related field of work.
- Familiar with the Child Development Program and NYS Day Care Regulations.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Willing and ability to travel throughout Oneida and Herkimer Counties.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Annual Physical Examinations.
- Ability to relate to people from varied backgrounds.
- Background check, fingerprint screen and annual physical and TB.
