The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a full-time Coordinator of Student Engagement in our Student Life department. The Coordinator of Student Engagement coordinates a vibrant student experience by providing student engagement through a robust club and organization program events, student governance, and through leadership and applied learning opportunities. The Coordinator fosters growth and development through the student engagement experience. This position coordinates all student engagement operations to ensure they align with College priorities, policies and procedures and within budgetary constraints.
Key responsibilities for this position include:
- Plans, implements, and promotes the student engagement programs consistent with the College’s strategic plan and mission;
- In conjunction with student life leadership, develops annual program goals and assessments;
- Coordinates and assigns work for student engagement related functions;
- Assists students with event planning to ensure College and SUNY policies and procedures are followed;
- Plans and/or leads the implementation of programming to commemorate recognition such as and not limited to Women’s History Month, Black History, etc. Collaborates with internal and external partners for community programming;
- Coordinates the New York State voter registration program for the College;
- Coordinates a summer accepted student program that promotes the retention of accepted students;
- Collaborates with campus partners to develop Applied Learning opportunities;
- Under the direction of the Dean of Student Life, develops, monitors and coordinates budgets including the Student Congress annual budget and the Student Engagement Office budget;
- Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports relating to student engagement materials;
- Co-Coordinates the Rome Campus Activities program with Rome staff;
- Provides leadership development opportunities;
- Advises Student Congress;
- Recruits, selects, trains, supervises and evaluates part-time staff as needed;
- Performs other duties related to this job description and as assigned by the Dean of Student Life.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Experience with word processing and database software and ability to learn and use new technologies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage students effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in higher education Student Affairs area
- Experience in student engagement, student activities, or campus programming
- Event planning, leadership development, or program coordination experience
