Job Summary
The Nurse Educator provides clinical education and professional development to nursing staff and students, ensuring high-quality patient care and safety.
Core Job Responsibilities:
- Assess training needs, mentor staff, and develop individualized orientation and competency plans.
- Collaborate with nursing leadership and participate in educational programs while keeping current with patient care practices.
- Participate in individualized orientation, evaluate employee progress, and document competency per policy.
- Assess practice of nursing staff and students through direct observation, chart reviews, and quality monitors.
- Conduct classes and provide individualized instruction.
- Work with nurse leadership to implement employee improvement or development plans.
- Investigate concerns of nursing practice and stay current in latest research.
- Provide clear and constructive feedback to educate effectively.
- Maintain a high standard of professional responsibility and performance.
- Serve as a resource for mentoring staff and monitoring/evaluating clinical competencies.
- Function as a Nurse Aide Trainee Program (NATP) Instructor and Practical Trainer.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience with 1 year in a long-term care setting.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
- Valid and unrestricted registered nursing license in NY State.
