LABORATORY MANAGER

Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Laboratory Services or designee, the Laboratory Manager provides leadership to and manages the day to day operations for the laboratory. Responsible for all elements of the laboratory operations.

Core Job Responsibilities

• Monitor the performance of the staff. Oversees workload distribution and scheduling of the office and areas of the lab. Performs disciplinary action with employees in conjunction with Human Resources and other lab leaders
• Maintain current Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for areas of responsibility
• Assist with developing and sustaining lab budgets and supply chains. Work with vendors, purchasing department and other lab leaders to negotiate contracts for laboratory equipment and supplies
• Ensure the labs function efficiently and according to the NYSDOH, CLIA, CLEP and additional regulating body standards and laws and provides a high level of quality laboratory services in a timely manner to meet the needs of providers, patients and clients / partners
• Handle operational needs and assignments which may include quality assurance, reporting requirements, inventory control and ordering, and the integration of lab services with other departments
• In conjunction with the Lab Outreach team, direct and manage the clinical services provided to current and potential new clients
• Follow all organizations policies and procedures including but not limited to those of infection control, privacy, attendance, safety, mission, vision and values
• Perform other duties as required.
