The Quality Professional is a Registered Nurse with clinical experience in Med/Surg, Critical Care and other acute care services that functions as a reviewer, data abstracts, supports Medical Staff committees and various departments of the organization in quality improvement efforts.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Identification and reporting of NYPORTS events to the Department of Health, and conducting Root Cause Analysis including interviewing involved person(s), literature searches and completing the Framework.
- Data abstraction, analysis and reporting of information to the appropriate departments/meetings.
- Assisting physicians, managers, nursing and Administration in decision-making based on the data and information.
- Analyzing and interpreting data and assisting physicians, hospital directors, Administration and others in decision-making based on that data.
- Recognizing trends and trackable events, and reporting identified information to the appropriate leaders.
- Concurrently and retrospectively monitoring and assessing the quality of care delivered by physicians, nurses and ancillary support services using specific approved criteria.
- Recognizing potential variances in care and coordinating peer reviews.
- Conducting, coordinating and facilitating Root Cause Analysis and Failure Modes Effect Analysis.
- Functioning as a team member and supporting Performance Improvement activities throughout the organization
- Maintaining a high degree of accuracy, recognizing patterns and trends in events and reporting identified information to the appropriate leaders.
- Participation as an Internal Auditor monitoring processes throughout the organizatio
- Participation in Clinical Quality Value Analysis process as directed, for example, product/service introduction (internal/external), investigation, analysis, education, conversion and issues
Required:
- Bachelors Degree in Nursing or health-related field (will consider candidates actively pursuing this degree on an individual basis).
- Minimum of three (3) years clinical experience, with knowledge of pathophysiology, treatment of disease and patient management.
- Knowledge of Quality Management, Performance Improvement and Utilization Management requirements and methodologies; including data abstraction and analysis

- Registered Nurse licensed in State of New York
