HVAC Technician - Full Time - Days at Mohawk Valley Health System
The HVAC Technician is responsible for the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems within a healthcare facility, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This role involves troubleshooting HVAC equipment, performing preventive maintenance, and improving patient comfort through efficient system modifications.
Candidates should possess a Universal Refrigerant Reclaiming license and have at least 5 years of HVAC experience, preferably in healthcare facilities.
Job Summary
This role requires general facility maintenance and repair duties as directed. Pneumatic and direct digital control experience are essential. Knowledge of air conditioning and refrigeration including ice machines is required. Experienced individuals in troubleshooting and repair of HVAC equipment, pipe cutting and threading, filter system maintenance, and medical gas systems installation are preferred.
Additional skills include:
- Install and maintain circulating pumps
- Maintain knowledge of high-pressure steam boilers and delivery systems
- Estimate and requisition materials needed for projects
- Working knowledge of OSHA, State, DOH, and Hospital Safety Standards
- Analyze and troubleshoot Electrical controls
- Experienced in all forms of soldering
- Perform preventative maintenance programs
- Heavy lifting and climbing
- Snow removal duties including shoveling, salting, and snow plow operations
This role is comprised of three main responsibilities:
~55% Work order response: addressing area temperature problems throughout the Facility, replacing/repairing pump and circulators, repairing and charging refrigerant systems, and adding or moving equipment for construction projects.
~25% Preventive maintenance duties: filter changes, coil cleaning, belt changes, ice machine cleaning and service, and other routine tasks to ensure optimal system performance.
~10% Compliance with regulatory responsibilities: ensuring appropriate function to comply with various regulatory agencies, refrigerant reclaiming, and Fire barrier repair.
~10% Quality Improvement: seeking ways to improve the patient/visitor experience by updating heating and cooling systems, modifying or moving HVAC components or sensors for improved comfort.
Education/Experience Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
- A High School diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of 5 years of HVAC experience
PREFERRED qualifications include:
- An Associate's or higher degree
- 3-5 years of Healthcare Facilities or Trade Experience
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Candidates must hold a valid:
- Universal Refrigerant Reclaiming license
