We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Engineering team. This on-site position will be responsible for working with our engineering, design, and manufacturing teams to take ownership of the electrical aspects of our novel liquid desiccant air conditioning products and support our controls development and implementation.

About the Senior Electrical Engineer position:

We seek an innovative electrical engineer to take a significant role in designing and engineering our third-generation liquid desiccant air conditioner. The successful candidate will “get in at the ground floor” of our newly launched and funded business to design and launch into the market industry-changing commercial HVAC products. They must be comfortable taking ownership of all high voltage and low voltage systems of our product; overcoming design challenges under deadlines; getting hands dirty with testing and troubleshooting; collaborating across Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Support teams; and working both independently and as managed locally and remotely. This role offers a unique opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation for climate solutions and be a part of creating and launching cutting edge technology. We offer a competitive salary and benefits plus a notable equity package.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Develop, manage, and maintain all electrical schematics, panel drawings, and work instructions
• Own electrical requirements and implementation across all hardware subsystems
• Evaluate and select electrical components for new product development, balancing electrical standards, functional requirements, cost, and reliability
• Support end of line/factory floor issues and troubleshooting
• Support in-field troubleshooting of electrical issues
• Manage a project across multiple stakeholders to meet required deadlines
• Lead design reviews internally and externally with suppliers
• Manage suppliers to design, quote, build, and evaluate parts
• Configure  product electrical  configuration (e.g. drawings, configs, code) at time of production

Required Qualifications:

• BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or directly adjacent field of study
• >5 years work experience in electrical engineering systems
• Expert knowledge of high voltage (120V – 600V) power electronics and devices including ECM motors, VFDs, and associated components
• Expert knowledge of low voltage digital and analog electronics including analog sensors, programmable logic controllers
• Hands-on experience with sizing, installing and troubleshooting various electronic components
• Expertise making electrical drawings in AutoCAD Electrical or similar
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Demonstrated history of working independently, demonstrating ownership of projects, and attention to detail/ checking/ controlling quality and accuracy of their work
• Experience developing and maintaining electrical schematics in a low-volume, high-mix configurable manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• Masters degree, preferably with focus on power electronics, analog electronics, or controls
• Strong understanding of electrical codes and standards (NEC)
• Experience selecting and integrating components common to HVAC including fans, pumps, variable frequency drives (VFD), stepper motor valves, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs)
• Working understanding of refrigeration systems, MODBUS communication, and BACNET
• Ability to travel to research and development headquarters in Sunnyvale, CA up to four weeks/ year
