Job Description

We have an opening for an Engineering Intern at our plant located in South Bend, Indiana. This position will create and update AutoCAD Drawings for Plant Equipment and support systems. This individual will work closely with the Plant Engineer, Process Engineer, Maintenance Supervisor and HSE Manager.

Position Summary :

Summer work assignments will focus on several objectives

Update AutoCAD drawing of the Plant Electrical One-Line and Breaker Panel distribution.

Identify circuits and document down to Breaker Panel Distribution

Update / create / validate AutoCAD drawings of equipment PID’s and overall plant equipment layout(s).

Assist with special projects such as maintenance inventory, critical spares inventory and plant equipment identification. (mfg., m / n, s / n).

Assist in capital planning projects and work with suppliers to schedule and plan work events.

Plant Process and Systems

Become familiar with plant process and equipment layout and material flow.

Identify critical equipment needs

Help update and generate equipment PM procedures

Help update plant wide equipment listing.

Help write work instructions for repetitive maintenance tasks

Having good documentation abilities and organization skills are required for filling this position requirement. Both electrical and mechanical knowledge and understanding is desired. Past experience with drawings, prints, schematics and service manuals will help in understanding and excelling in the required tasks. Safety will have the highest priority and will be incorporated into any updated drawing or document.

Maintenance Inventory and Planning

Become familiar with preventive maintenance system and procedures.

Assist in developing and updating PM Instructions

Assist in developing or improving PM’s for key equipment

Assist with critical and spare parts inventory and needs

Requirements :

Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Composite or Mechanical Engineering

Cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.

Interest in working in an industrial facility.

Strong oral and written communication skills.

Strong computer skills in order to utilize specialty software. (AutoCAD)

Willing to work in chemical plant.

Good mechanical and equipment aptitude.

Ability to work safe and follow plant safety rules.

40-hour week, Monday – Friday 8 am – 5 : 00 pm.

AutoCAD and manufacturing experience a plus.
