What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Quality Technician position at MOLDING SOLUTIONS, INC?
Working Hours: 2ndShift (2:45 pm to 11:20 pm) with overtime as needed
Job Description:
(1) Purpose:
The Quality Technician collaborates closely with the Supervisor, Dimensional Technician and Process Technician of the shift. This person must have strong teamwork skills and to be able to deal with the competing needs associated with meeting daily production requirements.
(2) Skills:
a. Excellent interpersonal “people” skills.

c. Outstanding communication skills e.g., listening, explaining, observing, demonstrating, etc.
d. Patience and skills in providing training/direction to both new trainees and seasoned operators.
e. Flexible; able to multi-task and diplomatically work through potentially conflicting expectations.
f. Responsible, self-disciplined in personal conduct and model’s treatment of fellow team members with dignity and respect.
g. Impeccable record of attendance and punctuality.
h. Strong math, SPC skills with accuracy in reporting and transcribing data.
i. Able to provide the context for “why” parts must conform to established functional and cosmetic standards.
j. Honest and transparent in all interactions.
(3) Responsibilities / Duties
a. Be aware of how jobs are running on the shift; notify and problem-solve with Supervisor, Dimensional Technician and Process Technician, if problems occur. Keep Quality Manager informed as appropriate.
b. Conduct dimensional checks, break test, etc. on the production floor. Report all nonconformance’s to Supervisor, Quality Technician and Process Technician and request direction/assistance when uncertain of appropriate disposition.
c. Works in containment. Inspect and gage product before it ships to our customer.
d. Fill out the Certification of Conformances on required product.
e. Assist in giving breaks to our production team.
f. Assist in making labels.
g. Assist in running presses or build parts in assembly, when asked.
h. Assist in training new and existing Operators as directed by Supervisor and/or Quality Manager.
i. Assists in Gage R & R’s.
j. Ensure that correct documentation is at dimension workstation (e.g., Work Instructions, SPEC CHARTS/RUN CHART.) and initiate action to correct and/or prevent errors.
k. Ensure that measurements and other tests are performed per work instructions, document lapses for corrective action by appropriate person.
l. Participate in pre-shift meetings; clearly communicate quality concerns, corrective actions, best practices, etc. with a positive attitude. (Core Team Shift Hand Off and Shift Pre-shift meeting)
m. Communicates with other Dimensional Technicians in person and / or via Quality Communication Book at shift change.
n. Assist with corrective actions and continuous improvement activities, as directed by Quality Manager.
o. Cover for other Dimensional Technicians, as needed. (e.g., Vacations, Call ins)
p. Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
(4) Experience and education requirements
a. Skill training – blueprint reading, SPC and other supplemental training.
b. Conversant in PC skills and Microsoft Suite of programs (Word, Excel, etc.) – or enrolled in a program to learn.
c. Skilled in use of Global Shop ERP for reporting and report-generation purposes.
d. Some knowledge of various customer requirements (WKW /APS AVON).
e. Strong math skills along with legible, accurate documentation.
f. High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
