Job Description: Mold Technician, MOLDX

General Summary of the Position

Perform tasks involving the identification and treatment of mold in residences and businesses, including physical labor and the operation of a variety of hand and power tools. May clean and prepare sites for treatment, take samples of mold for analysis, apply treatment chemicals, install mechanical barriers, clean up debris and remove waste materials. May assist other technicians.

Essential Functions

• Perform a variety of tasks involving identifying and treating mold which may include manual labor in preparation of surfaces for treatment and/or prevention.
• Bend, crawl, stoop, squat and climb, sometimes in confined places, to inspect for mold problems and in treatment, as needed.
• Lift and carry chemicals, equipment and materials needed for the treatment and elimination of mold problems. May need to wear protective clothing and breathing mask.
• Deconstruct and/or reconstruct areas for treatment. May need to excavate and fill trenches and ditches.
• Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure job site in order to eliminate potential hazards.
• Material handling and storage.
• Load and unload trucks and haul and hoist materials.
• Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed. Bring problems to the attention of the Supervisor or Manager.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in basic construction work.
• Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions.
• Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule.
• Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, stand and stoop for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor, sometimes under adverse conditions and in confined spaces.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
• Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely.
• Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions.
• Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.

Education, Training and Experience

• Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work.
• Willingness and ability to perform work following verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to supervise others and manage project to completion on time and within budget.

Work Context

• Regularly works near mechanical parts, both inside and outside in conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to mold, dust and chemicals.
• Must be able to crawl, climb, lift, push, pull or carry objects, use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue and to effectively jump, sprint or throw an object.
• Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
• Must be able to quickly move arms and legs.
• Excellent stamina is required.

Special Requirements

Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate Virginia state driver’s license prior to employment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $20.00 per hour
