What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Associate position at Molecular Matrix?
Reporting to the Research & Development Lead, the Research Associate will play a critical role in developing tissue-engineering medical devices. This position involves extensive work in cell culture, molecular biology, bioreactor optimization and cross-functional collaboration to drive innovative research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Characterize biomaterial properties and scaffold interactions
- Assist in biocompatibility and mechanical testing
- Perform brightfield and fluorescence microscopy
- Cell culture and cell Line Development
- Perform gene and protein expression analyses (RT-PCR, ELISA, Western blot)
- Contribute to research and development efforts by identifying, suggesting, and managing laboratory supplies and equipment
Qualifications & Skills:
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in molecular biology techniques (such as ELISA, Western blot, PCR, SDS-PAGE, silver staining, Coomassie staining)
- Experience with mammalian cell culture (adherent stem cells or suspended cells)
- Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to documentation and protocol adherence
- Ability to operate lab equipment (microscopy, fluorometric assays, plate readers, spectrophotometry)
Preferred Skills:
- Strong background in tissue engineering, biomaterials, and scaffold fabrication
- Image processing and analysis (e.g., ImageJ, microscopy)
- Experience in transfection, tissue engineering, and hydrogels
- Knowledge of cartilage, and bone biology
- Experience in bioreactor-based cell culture and scale-up technique
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Tissue Engineering, Biology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related field (Required)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mammalian cell culture (Required)
- Experience in transfection, and cell line development (Preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in mechanical testing of biomaterials/tissue constructs (Preferred)
