SEASONAL ICE CREAM SCOOPER

 This role is hourly, 20 hours a week starting at $21.00 an hour.

 About the Role:

As a Seasonal Scooper at molly moon’s, you are the heart of our customer experience, responsible for providing generous, joyful service while delivering consistent, beautifully scooped ice cream. This fun, seasonal position offers 20 hours a week, starting at $21.00 an hour, and is perfect for those who thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. You'll be ringing up customers, keeping the shop clean, and helping to create a welcoming atmosphere for all.  Your Impact:

As a Seasonal Scooper, you will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, creating positive vibes during every shift, and ensuring each scoop is perfectly consistent. You’ll also help maintain a clean and inviting shop environment while learning about our products, ingredients, and community partnerships to share with customers.

 Responsibilities:

Customer Service:

  • Welcome and thank every customer, creating a friendly and memorable experience.
  • Offer samples, menu suggestions, and add-ons with a generous attitude.
  • Share what you’ve learned about our ingredients, partnerships, and community involvement with customers.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve concerns promptly.

Ice Cream Scooping:

  • Accurately and efficiently scoop ice cream into cones or cups, ensuring every item is visually appealing and consistent.
  • Roll waffle cones, make sundaes, and mix shakes.
  • Handle and store ice cream products following safety and hygiene standards.
  • Keep calm and scoop on during busy times, maintaining a positive attitude.

Cash Handling:

  • Process transactions accurately using a cash register, handling cash, credit cards, and other payment methods.
  • Provide correct change and receipts to customers.

 Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and efficient customer service.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers and management.
  • Assist with closing duties and cleaning at the end of each shift.

Cleanliness:

  • Keep the shop clean and inviting, both inside and outside.
  • Continually stock ice cream, merchandise, and paper goods.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines meticulously.
  • Clean and maintain work areas, restrooms, and shop displays.

Skills:

  • Excellent verbal communication and a passion for delivering first-class customer service.
  • Friendly, upbeat attitude; thrives in a high-energy team environment.
  • Ability to multitask and follow through on tasks in a busy environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a proactive attitude, willing to pitch in on cleaning tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 17 years old by June 1, 2024.
  • Retail or customer service experience is preferred but not required.
  • Basic math skills for cash handling.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Comfortable with repetitive physical tasks and able to lift 50 lbs regularly.
  • Able to stand for 5-8 hours during scooping shifts.
  • Access to a phone for calls and texts, and the internet to check email and schedules.
  • Must obtain a Washington State food handler’s permit before your first day of work.
  • molly moon’s is a tobacco-free company—we do not hire smokers.

 AVAILABILITY 

  • Candidates must be able and available to work late nights. Many shifts are closing shifts and are scheduled until midnight.
  • Be available 20 hours a week while working a minimum of two shifts per week. Exceptions to the availability requirement can be made for high school students when school is in session. During summer break our standard availability requirements apply. 
    • During the winter be available 15 hours a week working a minimum of one shift per week. 
  • No planned absences longer than 4 days in a row, June 1st through August 31st. This includes scheduled shifts where you might be able to find coverage (e.g. you could not take a 10-day vacation by getting 4 days off and covering a weeks’ worth of shifts) 
  • Willingness to pick up shifts and work in other shops on occasion strongly preferred
  • Be available to work at least two closing weekend shifts (Friday-Sunday) 

 COMPENSATION 

  • Starting wage: $21.00/hr. to $21.00/hr. (all hires start at the same hourly rate)
  • Pay range for molly moon’s scoopers: $21.00/hr. (starting) to $25.45/hr. (2.5-year tenure)
  • At the 6-month mark following your performance review, if you receive a 2.5% or 3% raise, you'll achieve tenured status and receive an additional $1 increase to your pay.
  • Two pay increases per year: 
    • annual merit-based performance increase of between 1%-3%
    • annual cost of living increase based on the Seattle CPI

 BENEFITS

  • Zero premium, high-quality medical, dental, and vision insurance that work an average of 20 hours per week over a period of 6 weeks. New employees are eligible for health insurance 60 days after the first day of the first full month of employment. 
    1. Molly Moon’s pays 100% of premium for qualifying employees and their children. 
    2. A spouse may also be insured on company plan at the employee’s expense. 
  • Paid Sick and Safe Time (PSST):
    1. 16 hours front-loaded at time of hire
    2. Additional PSST accrues at a rate of .03846/hr per hour worked in accordance with Seattle law
  • Eligible for vacation PTO after working 6 months 
  • Four time and a half holidays per year
  • Supplemental paid family leave benefits for employees who qualify for and receive PFML. Molly Moon’s will pay the difference between the PFML benefit and 100% of an employee’s regular hourly earnings for the duration of your ESD approved leave up to a maximum of 18 weeks
  • 401k with employer match of 1% in the first year of participation, 2% year 2, and 3% year three. Employees are eligible after 12 consecutive months of employment
  • Subsidized ORCA passport available for $10/month
  • Childcare subsidies toward the cost of childcare, day care, babysitting, summer camps & other qualifying programs:
    1. up to $1,000 per month / per child for each child under the age of 5 (or pre-K)
    2. up to $4,200 per year / per child for each child between the ages of 5-12
  • Up to $50 annual subsidized shoe stipend for non-slip work shoes
  • Access to free Employee Assistance Program for all employees starting on their first day of hire. Services include financial planning, counseling, housing and childcare resources and other benefits.
