Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Dog Bather to join our team during the week, M-F.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of pet grooming practices. As a Dog Bather, you will be responsible for providing high-quality bathing and basic grooming services to pets, ensuring their comfort and well-being throughout the process.
Duties
- Bathe dogs and other pets using appropriate shampoos and conditioners based on their specific needs.
- Dry pets thoroughly using towels or dryers, ensuring they are comfortable throughout the process.
- Brush and comb pets to remove tangles, mats, and loose fur.
- Inspect pets for any skin issues, parasites, or abnormalities and report findings to the grooming team or management.
- Maintain cleanliness in the bathing area, including washing towels, cleaning equipment, and sanitizing surfaces.
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating with pet owners about their pets’ needs and any observations made during grooming.
- Assist with handling pets during bathing and grooming sessions to ensure safety for both the pet and staff.
- Support other team members in various tasks as needed, including kennel duties or assisting with animal handling.
Skills
- Proficient in animal handling techniques to ensure the safety of both pets and staff.
- Experience in pet grooming is highly desirable but not mandatory; training can be provided.
- Strong knowledge of dog training methods is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting as required when handling larger breeds or equipment.
- Familiarity with animal care practices, including basic health checks for common issues.
- Experience working in a kennel or veterinary assistant role is beneficial.
- Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with pet owners and team members.
- A compassionate attitude towards animals, demonstrating patience and understanding during grooming sessions.
