• Job Objective: Reporting to the CEO and COO, the Controller/Estimating Manager oversees financial management, including job costing, monthly financials, A/R, A/P, and collections. This role develops and refines cost models to ensure profitability and optimize margins. Additionally, it supports equipment-related proposal development and overhead recovery for accurate cost allocation and forecasting. Collaboration with internal teams and trade partners is essential for maintaining accurate cost projections and financial sustainability.

Primary Job Functions:

Financial

• Manage all financial transactions, including invoicing, accounts payable and receivable, bank reconciliations, payroll, sales and use tax, and budgeting.
• Prepare financial statements, reports, and budgets for the management team and owners.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures to ensure the efficient and effective management of the company's finances.
• Monitor cash flow and manage banking relationships
• Ensure financial compliance and accurate reporting.

Estimating & Cost Modeling

• Develop, maintain, and refine cost models for projects, ensuring alignment with financial goals.
• Work closely with internal teams, including project managers and finance, to establish accurate cost projections.
• Collaborate with trade partners and subcontractors to gather pricing, negotiate costs, and ensure competitive bids.
• Analyze historical cost data and market trends to improve estimating accuracy.
• Identify areas for cost savings and process efficiencies without compromising quality.
• Support contract negotiations by providing cost breakdowns and margin analysis.
• Monitor project financial performance to ensure overhead recovery and target margins.
• Provide regular reporting and recommendations to leadership on cost trends and financial risks.
• Prepares complex cost estimates for competitive bids and negotiated proposals.

Proposal Development & Overhead Recovery (Equipment & Accounting)

• Oversee proposal development and overhead recovery to ensure accurate financial forecasting.
• Analyze and allocate overhead costs, including equipment utilization, depreciation, and operational expenses.
• Ensure cost recovery strategies are aligned with profitability goals.
• Develop and maintain systems for tracking and reporting equipment-related financial data.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 5 years of experience in financial management and/or estimating.
• Strong accounting principles, financial management practices, and cost modeling.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Knowledge /experience in construction field is preferred
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Quickbooks Required. General Software systems proficiency critical with overall management of workflow. Systems currently include Buildertrend, Quickbooks, Microsoft Suite, Slack, and Share Point
• Must sign a non-disclosure agreement

Pay: $69,780.55 - $90,036.80 per year
