About the Role:
The Automation Systems Specialist will be responsible for safely and efficiently maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the electrical and automation subsystems within our production facility. This role requires a strong understanding of industrial controls and automation systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to safe work practices and complete monthly safety audits/observations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Effectively communicate with management, vendors, peers, and production personnel to ensure seamless operations.
- Provide technical leadership and support to electrical and instrumentation technicians at the facility.
- Troubleshoot electrical, electronics, instrumentation, and controls issues using various tools and software.
- Work with internal and external resources to resolve issues quickly and effectively.
- Interpret electrical schematics and user manuals to identify root causes of problems.
- Troubleshoot process issues with automation software, hardware issues with PLCs, and touchscreens.
- Use advanced network troubleshooting techniques to diagnose control networking issues.
- Collaborate with IT to troubleshoot and maintain automation servers.
- Create user manuals and training documentation, and train technicians as needed.
- Identify and implement process and automation improvements to increase efficiency and productivity.
- Assist and consult with management/engineering on projects as needed.
- Provide support and leadership to electrical, electronics, and instrumentation technicians.
- Manage, backup, and organize all automation-related documentation for the facility.
Requirements:
- 2-year certification from college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
- 5 years of strong industrial electrical background in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents such as electrical schematics, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, governmental regulations, and procedure manuals in English.
- Ability to write routine reports, procedural manuals, and correspondence in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in both one-on-one and in group situations, and respond to questions from internal/external customers/vendors at all levels.
- Experience with Allen Bradley/Rockwell automation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, responding appropriately to changing priorities.
- Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
