What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Intern (Industrial & Systems Engineering) position at Mom's Meals?
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Production Intern to support our Continuous Improvement and Industrial Systems initiatives. This internship is ideal for students with strong problem-solving skills, demonstrated leadership experience, and a desire to explore a future career in the North Jackson area. The intern will work primarily in the Production department, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to enhance processes and drive efficiency. The dates of the internship will be May 19, 2025, thru August 8, 2025. The intern will be paired with a dedicated mentor for guidance and professional growth. Regular one-on-one coaching sessions will provide ongoing support, feedback, and educational opportunities. Projects will include tangible metrics and goals designed to yield measurable results, enhancing the intern’s learning experience.
\n- Work alongside the Production team on workflow optimization
- Contribute to process mapping, time studies, and bottleneck evaluations
- Provide insights on system performance and recommend corrective actions
- Assist with data collection and analysis to identify areas for process optimization
- Participate in root-cause analyses, brainstorming sessions, and Kaizen events
- Implement small-scale improvement projects under guidance from experienced engineers
- Partner with Quality, Safety, and other relevant departments to ensure holistic process improvements
- Communicate findings, project updates, and results to stakeholders
- Leverage prior leadership experience (Resident Assistant, class officer, campus organization officer, etc.) to coordinate small project teams
- Gain hands-on industry experience through one-on-one coaching sessions with an assigned mentor
- Currently a junior or senior (at time of internship) pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering & Management, or a related discipline
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities
- Priority given to students attending college in the North Jackson, OH area
- Basic familiarity with process improvement principles (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
- Students who have roots in the North Jackson area and are interested in starting a career in that area after graduation
- Regularly required to use hands to feel, grab, or operate objects, tools, and controls while reaching with hands and arms
- Frequently required to stand, communicate, and listen
- Occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel or crouch
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Visual perception to perform job including peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
