Momence Junior High is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Physical Education & Health Teacher to inspire and educate students in grades 5-8. The ideal candidate will create an engaging and developmentally appropriate curriculum that promotes physical fitness, health education, and lifelong wellness habits.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement a comprehensive physical education and health curriculum for grades 5-8 as well as Adaptive PE.
Teach students fundamental movement skills, sportsmanship, teamwork, and overall physical well-being.
Educate students on topics such as nutrition, personal health, mental well-being, and safety.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation.
Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support growth.
Collaborate with faculty and staff to support school-wide wellness initiatives.
Maintain a safe and structured learning environment in both indoor and outdoor settings.
Organize and participate in school-wide fitness events, extracurricular activities, or after-school programs.
Uphold school policies and ensure adherence to state and national physical education standards.
Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification/license in Physical Education and Health (or ability to obtain certification).
Strong knowledge of physical fitness principles, health education topics, and age-appropriate instruction methods.
Excellent communication and classroom management skills.
Passion for promoting lifelong health and wellness among students.
