Staff Android Engineer (Contract-to-Hire) - W2 Only
Location : San Mateo, CA (100% Remote)
Contract Duration : 6 months with possible extension

Job Overview :
Kforce is currently seeking an experienced Staff Android Engineer for a contract-to-hire opportunity. This fully remote position requires an expert in Android development with a passion for building scalable and high-performance applications focused on real-time communication (voice, chat, push notifications). The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in developing and optimizing Android applications and a deep understanding of real-time communication technologies.
Key Responsibilities :
- Lead Full-Cycle Development : Architect, develop, and maintain Android applications for real-time voice calling, messaging, and push notifications, delivering features to millions of users.
- Set High Engineering Standards : Drive coding, testing, and automation best practices; conduct thorough code reviews and mentor junior developers.
- Own Technical Strategy : Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Backend) to define project scopes, shape roadmaps, and deliver solutions from ideation to deployment.
- Real-Time Communication Integration : Utilize protocols like WebRTC, RCS, SIP, and other messaging frameworks to optimize low-latency communication in the app.
- Performance and Scalability : Lead the effort to scale the Android app, applying cutting-edge tools and practices to ensure top-notch performance and reliability.
- Data-Driven Decision Making : Utilize analytics, A / B testing, and telemetry to guide product iterations and optimize technical strategies.
- Troubleshoot and Debug : Investigate and resolve critical issues such as crashes, performance bottlenecks, and bugs to ensure a stable and smooth user experience.
- Build High-Performing Teams : Contribute to hiring and onboarding efforts, set high standards for quality, and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
