What are the responsibilities and job description for the Education and Partnership Director position at Momentum Conservation?
About the Position
The Education and Partnership Director will primarily be focused on outside programs related to organizational development, capacity building, and convenings. They will work closely with the Executive Director on program implementation, membership, partnership development, and overall educational strategy. All staff are responsible for outcomes in each of our three organizational focus areas: capacity building, grantmaking, and convening. This position will report to the Executive Director, and will engage collaboratively with all staff, but will ultimately have direct responsibility over:
Capacity building
- Coordinate, research, and design learning opportunities for partner organizations
- Further develop existing programs: Climate Change Observatory Network, Technical Assistance, Relearning Cohort, and Sustainability Series
- Build relationships with new and existing partners
Grantmaking
- Collaborate with Grant Program Director to develop programming in response to shared needs and gaps as articulated in grant applications
- Participate as needed in grant program design and grant application review
Convening
- Develop the overarching framework for opportunities to bring people together
- Work with staff to identify and design virtual and in-person offerings
- Manage Momentum Conservation’s membership program
This position will be full time, year-round, and is expected to be a long-term, highly responsible position within Momentum. Some work outside of the responsibilities above, including assistance to the Executive Director as needed, will be expected. Momentum has a hybrid remote/in-person policy, but applicants should anticipate at least 50% of the position will be conducted in-person at the Momentum office in Portland, ME. The position will also include occasional travel to other parts of the state for meetings, training opportunities, technical assistance, and networking. Personal vehicle mileage outside of commuting will be reimbursed at the federal rate.
Qualifications, skills, and experience:
- A strong understanding of equity related work and equity connected living - living or learned or both, this person will demonstrate ways of continually challenging themselves and others to think about disrupting systems of oppression and finding new, creative and more just ways of being.
- Familiarity and/or experience with the conservation community of Maine, and/or substantially similar conservation movements in other locations
- Strong ability to think and plan strategically and support long-term planning and organizational vision-work.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the desire and ability to build and maintain relationships
- Skills in facilitation and education for topics related to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice
- Experience creating curriculum for educational programs of all ages
- Ability to facilitate meetings, programs, webinars and/or other educational/programmatic events.
- Abilities to create resources and to support the creation of resources (examples: blogs, case studies, lesson plans, etc.)
- Thoughtful about how people learn, grow, and process new information
- Ability to help build and support a network of people and organizations through community outreach
- Offer support to development/fundraising efforts
- Manage and coordinate projects
- Ability to work well with a team - possessing skills of honest communication, ability to be with difference, discomfort and a willingness to grow in self-awareness and leadership. As part of being a strong team member also participating in all staff meetings, retreats and gatherings, except for occasions when cannot/does not make sense.
- Ability to manage consultants on capacity building projects.
- Ability to multitask, manage own calendar, and manage time effectively

Compensation and Benefits
- $65,000 base annual salary (non-negotiable)
